General Coordinator: Janelle Alexander, member since 2017
From: Boston Massachusetts the birthplace of musical legends like New Edition and New Kids on the Block!
Favorite race: The Allstate 13.1 holds a special place in my heart – it was where I discovered the love of running and began my running life with Black Girls Run. Allstate was one of my first half marathons and brings back fantastic memories.
Hobbies: You’ll likely find me outdoors. I’m a big fan of swimming and anything that gets me moving under the sun. Recently, I’ve been diving into the fascinating world of cricket (thanks to my new cricket machine!). I also love getting my hands dirty planting flowers in my ever-growing hydrangea garden and orchards.
What do you eat before you run? What gets me moving, I don’t need any fuel beforehand, but for those epic runs over 8 miles, you better believe I reward myself with a delicious Egg McMuffin!

From: Atlanta, GA
Favorite race: SweetH20 Sweetheart Half Marathon
Hobbies: Reading and volunteering.
What do you eat before you run? Cream of wheat with nuts and blueberries.
Treasurer: Shannon Golden, member since 2011
From: Savannah, Georgia
Favorite race? Selma to Montogomery race. In 2023, I ran the first leg and the final leg to secure the SFRP team’s epic second-place finish. I love to run any 5K-marathon distances.
Hobbies: I enjoy many different activities but reading, other athletic ventures, and finding the best margarita stand out the most.
What do you eat before you run? For the usual Saturday club runs up to 15K races, I do not eat anything. For Half marathons and Marathon races, I will occasionally eat fruit and continue to hydrate.
Membership Coordinator: Jill Perry Croom, member since 2009
From: Pennsylvania
Favorite distance to run? 10k/6 miles
Hobbies: Exploring different restaurants around Atlanta and the world, hanging with family and dog, fashion.
What do you eat before you run? Water and energy drink.
Secretary: Felicia LeRay Turk, member since 2015
From: Felicia was born in Honolulu, Hawai’i, on the island of O’ahu, which is also known as “The Gathering Place.” She spent most of her youth in New York State, attended Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, and moved to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1996.
Favorite Race: Her favorite race was the ING Georgia Marathon in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 30, 2008. Now, she prefers to run shorter distances.
Hobbies: When she is not spending time with the SFRP, Felicia enjoys traveling domestically and abroad, watching Oscar-worthy movies, swimming, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Assistant Secretary: Janita Poe, member since 2005.
From: Former Air Force brat mostly raised in Atlanta.
Favorite Race: Ironman Chattanooga 2016
Hobbies: Cooking, visiting adopted family in France and other travel, Sporcle trivia showdowns.
What do you eat before you run? Water, coffee with creamer, peanut butter and wheat bread or oatmeal and banana.
Chaplain: Charles Ross, member since 2017
From: His birth state is Virginia via of Phoenix, Arizona to Atlanta, Georgia area which he now proclaims as home.
Favorite Race: 2019 Peachtree Road Race. It was one year after he had been diagnosed and treated for cancer a second time. He admits to three dreaded words you never want to hear your doctor say “you have cancer”. There has been a divine intervention for him in his life and he’s so grateful. He says that good health is his TOTAL WEALTH…without it, nothing else matters and he would absolutely have nothing.
Hobbies: Wood working, making epoxy projects, kayaking, ocean fishing, bicycling and of course running with the SFRP’s. He absolutely loves retirement.
What do you eat before you run? On the day or night before any run or distance walks, usually he tries to load up on pasta because of its carbohydrates. It provides a slow release of energy that allows him to walk or run longer distances.
Parliamentarian: Michael Ibidapo. member since 2009.
From: Born in Nigeria, west Africa but have lived in Atlanta since 1988.
Favorite Race: The Race.
Hobbies: Watching good movies.
What do you eat before you run? Usually don’t eat before a run. I might need to change that.
Beginners Friendly
Don’t worry if you’re new to running or haven’t been active for a while. Our running club welcomes beginners with open arms. Our experienced coaches will guide you through the basics and help you build your running stamina at a pace that suits you.
